  1. Thanks for posting that song. I haven’t listened to it for a long time, and you inspired me to do that today.

    The story of Abraham and Isaac used to trouble me terribly. I couldn’t imagine a loving God who would ask me to murder my beloved only child, even as a sacrifice to him, or as a means of testing my obedience. How could I love a God that would ask such a thing? But one day it occurred to me that the important thing in this story was that God provided the lamb – the sacrifice – a foretelling of the sacrifice of his own child – so that MY child would not have to (eternally) die. What a comfort to every parent who loves their children. So now I find this story beautiful instead of freakishly troublesome.
