Who Is C.S. Lewis In Your Life?

“The unpayable debt that I owe to him was not ‘influence’ as it is ordinarily understood, but sheer encouragement. He was for long my only audience. Only from him did I ever get the idea that my ‘stuff’ could be more than a private hobby.”

J.R.R. Tolkien, on his friend, C.S. Lewis

So who fulfills this role in your life? Who encourages you in your art?

My list is pretty long, but includes many of you who I only know through the internet (for now). Thank you.

  1. I haven’t got an art in the usual sense of the word – painting, music, storytelling – (I would love to do all those things – but the closest I can get is to playing the guitar a little) but if life itself can be viewed as art, each day a new canvas to paint, then I do have a list.

    In no particular order then:

    -Tolkien and Lewis
-The folks who post on the RR website – as well as those who comment(I almost want to say I like going there better than church, but I won’t say that because it sounds wrong! Although I’m rather paranoid about exclamation marks now).
    -Ron Block
    -Sally Clarkson (her daughter too)
    -My husband
    -George MacDonald
    -Kelli (RR friend)

I know there’s lots more but generally all the above are a huge influence on me.
